Since their formation in London in 2010, The Bleeding have built a reputation for unrelenting death metal rooted in aggression, horror, and crushing riff work, combining old-school extremity with a sharpened modern attack. Across releases such as Rites of Absolution, Morbid Prophecy, and 2023’s critically praised Monokrator, the band have steadily evolved into one of the UK underground’s most consistently punishing acts. With Godless Communion, they raise the bar yet again.
Craig Land’s arrival injects the album with a commanding and venomous vocal performance that perfectly complements the band’s barbaric blend of death metal and thrash-driven ferocity. At the same time, Godless Communion serves as a celebration of The Bleeding’s history and the wider underground death metal scene through an array of notable guest appearances. Dutch death metal legend Adrie Kloosterwaard of Sinister delivers guest vocals on “Bestial Bloodlust,” while Ryan Howes of Sodomized Cadaver appears on the band’s crushing bonus cover of Cannibal Corpse classic “Born in a Casket.” Adding further weight to the album’s sense of legacy, original The Bleeding vocalist Themis K. returns for guest vocals on “Death Eternal.”
Violent, relentless, and steeped in pure death metal hostility, Godless Communion stands as both a defining moment in The Bleeding’s evolution and a triumphant celebration of underground death metal devotion.
