KATRE is a post-rock band formed by 4 friends towards the end of 2014 who grew up together.

Katre is a Berlin-based instrumental post rock band that in 2017 released its debut album, “Encounters”. Four years later, Katre, return with their sophomore work, “Behind the Resilience”.
The band has taken up a really interesting challenge. You see, Katre is an instrumental band that creates concepts albums. However, without a vocalist the concept must be presented through the music and through the music alone. The stories must be told by the notes, the atmosphere and the rhythm, which is quite challenging to say the least. Yet, Katre, have found to a way to tell these stories and to present their ideas only via their compositions, with great success.
In their second full-length album, “Behind the Resilience”, Katre unfold the different phases of refuging. The life before the war, the start of violence, the escaping, the challenges and hardships of the way to a new land, the feeling of being unwanted and the effort to adapt in a new life, are the main events that take place in the “saga” of Katre’s sophomore record. But how to do you present such a sorrowful and powerful concept, without saying a single word? How do you paint this journey only with music? Well, Katre made it possible and they deserve a huge applaud for this.
The “Behind the Resilience” can be listened in to different ways. The first is without knowing the concept, in which you just appreciate the great post rock compositions of Katre. The album is still quite enjoyable and sooner or later you will find yourself drawn into the music.
The second is when you are aware of the concept presented. And that is a completely different experience. Now everything, every single change in the music, every single note makes a difference. The heavier, groovier riffs, the melodic lines, and the sounds in the background everything is in place. The atmosphere is getting heavier by the song, by the minute. For example, in the “The Decision”, through the heavy intro, the listener feels the difficult choice the protagonists have to make and in the “Route”, the eerie guitars and aggressive drums create a realistic picture of the hardships of the way.
Katre managed to create a concept album only through their music without saying a single word. And if that is not enough reason to pay attention, then you should know that “Behind the Resilience” is simply a great post rock album even when considering the compositions alone.
