HYPOSTASIS drop music video for new single “MIRROR”, debut album “BIRTH OF A MASK” scheduled for release May 8, 2026

Greek progressive metal group Hypostasis have just dropped their new song “Mirror”, accompanied by a daring music video. “Mirror” is the second single off the upcoming album “Birth of a Mask”, which is scheduled for release on May 8th.

 

With “Mirror”, Hypostasis aim to break the barriers of more mainstream metal releases. The band trades off the usual flashy choruses and made-for-radio song structure for a dark, introspective track made to grip the listener and plunge them into the atmosphere it creates. Tension builds up and collapses, the mood shifts from a whisper to a scream and back, inner dialogue erupts into confrontation.

 

This is all framed by a haunting visual production from NAPAN Film & Animation Studio (Mother of Millions, Khirki, Maplerun). A minimalist scene of self-reflection in black and white, this short film encapsulates the fragile balance of “Mirror”, building upon the track and navigating the mounting tension to its inevitable conclusion.

 

Following the release of “Mirror”, Hypostasis’ debut concept album “Birth of a Mask” is scheduled for release on May 8th, 2026. Produced by the band’s own Konrad Kavallieratos and mastered by George Nerantzis (Pain of Salvation, Gus G, Nightrage), “Birth of a Mask” will mark the band’s return in its original lineup after an 8-year hiatus, and their first release after the eponymous 2016 EP.

“Mirror” was released on April 17, 2026. The accompanying music video can be found here, while the song can also be streamed on all major platforms.
