ΤHE SILENT WEDDING (Prog/Power Metal- Greece) – Album Review ‘’Ego Path” for KICKASS FOREVER via ANGELS PR WORLDWIDE PROMOTION – Thank you!! #TheSilentWedding
Back in 2017 The Silent Wedding released their sophomore work, entitled “Enigma Eternal”, which became the recipient high praises and great comments. I was astonished when I first listened to that record and it made me fall in love with The Silent Wedding and their sound. The past year, The Silent Wedding returned with their third full-length work and follow up to “Enigma Eternal”, the “Ego Path”.
I should not lie; I was both anxious and excited for this release. I was anxious because they had to produce something at least equally great and excited because one of my favorite bands was releasing new material. After countless times listening to the “Ego Path”, I am certain of one thing. The Silent Wedding is without a doubt a force to be reckoned with, a band creative and full of talent. Their third release is a proper follow up and a work that comes with its own memorable moments, establishing the Greeks not only as a promising band, but as a wonderful band of our times.
The album opens with the song, “The Eternal Enigma”, a link to the previous work and a smooth transition between the works, that were years apart. So, we could consider as first track the song “Time of Darkness” that does a great job introducing the listener to the band’s sound. With a heavy, progressive intro that moves on to a beautiful blend of technicality and melody, The Silent Wedding set the scene and present the power/progressive core of their sound.
The keys play a great part in the sound’s development. They are mainly responsible for the atmospheric part of the album and a big part of the melodic aspect. Great example of this is the song “Caught in the Web” that stands out for its great melodic lines, as well as for its chilling chorus that gets you instantly hooked.
Still there is one thing that I need to point out and make clear about this album. While the guitar work with the power/progressive riffs is great, the rhythmic section tight, the bass lines are inspired and play an important role in the sound’s formation and the vocal performance is simply captivating and can make you shiver, none of these are what make the “Ego Path” such a great release. In my opinion, the strongest asset of this album is the emotions that evokes while listening to it. Its darkish, melancholic vibe deriving from the esoteric lyrical approach, along with the powerful and dynamic compositions and the mellow intervals of melodic lines, all come together in harmony making an album which evokes powerful and cleansing feeling with each and every song.
