Whiplash formed in 1984 in Passaic, New Jersey, USA. One of the early thrash metal bands, they presumably took their name from the Metallica song. I photographed them here April 12, 1986 at the famous rock club in Brooklyn, NY, USA called L’Amour.

               They had just released their debut album, “Power and Pain” at this time. Guitarist and Vocalist Tony Portaro is the only constant member of the band to this day. The band have released 7 albums in their career and are working on a new album for Metal Blade Records.
