WARRIOR PATH INTERVIEW
Hello and welcome to KICK ASS FOREVER with a kick ass album!
Hello and thank you for the invitation!
-So let’s start with an introduction, tell us about your musical background
I’m a self-taught guitarist but I used to practice a lot. My main practice was to try playing my favorite songs on the guitar. I’ve been involved in some local bands and as a session guitar player but nothing permanent.
-Now let’s talk about the concept! Valhalla and the whole concept of warrior Knights, vikings, etc.was always embraced from the Metal community especially in the 80’s and early 90’s . However, it is still nowadays a beloved concept for all the Metal Fans, did you have that in mind as your guiding line when you were composing the music?
I am trying not to follow any guiding lines. I just want to be honest and to express myself through music. The old school vibe and this concept came naturally for me, because it’s the music that I grew up with. Even now I tend to more older stuff. I like reading also books that tell stories about warriors and mythology. My songs are mostly everyday difficulties but sung in an epic/heavy way.
-Tell us a few things about the musicians that took part at the creation of Warrior Path. How this stunning line up of well known artists came up?!
Bob was eager to participate because he liked the songs and he wanted to help me. For me that was really great cause he is also one of my favorite musicians. Yannis is, in my opinion, the best singer of our generation with great singing abilities. Bob sent him an email with the proposal and the songs we had recorded and he accepted. Dave along with Hristos, we have been friends for many years. When I asked for their contribution they accepted without hesitation and their help was very valuable. I chose them because of their professionalism and most importantly because they love what they are doing. They are all great musicians and they helped me a lot!
– When you first grabbed the guitar, what were your main influences back then?
My main influences, even now, are Dio, Iron Maiden, Riot, Crimson Glory, Running Wild, Manilla Road, Bathory and Battleroar!
– How long did it take to write the lyrics for the songs and whose specific voice did you have in your head while “singing” them.
The lyrics were written a long time ago, when I was in high school. Lyrics are written alongside music. I am trying to describe with words and sound all the things that I want to say. I’ve always had in my head a voice combination of all those great singers from my influences.
-What’s the best memory you had during the recording sessions that you would like to share?!
All the recording sessions and especially to be working with Bob were the best days of my life because I was finally able to fulfill my dream after all these years.
– Are there any chances that we will see this epic line up on stage all together or even touring?
We would like to make some live performances, but it’s difficult for now to schedule any tour dates because our time is limited and Yannis was a guest vocal performance.
– ..and now the most critical question! What’s your plans about the future? Is the second “Warrior Path” album on the making?
The truth is that I have already composed the second album and we are about to start the recordings with Bob. I believe that it will be even better than our debut album.
Thank you so much for your time!!!
