VOID INN – Album Review – “End this game” ( released on Οctober 30, 2020 via INSIDE ROCK RECORDS) #voidinn
Review written and submitted by Marian Nicolaou via Angels PR Music Promotion – thank you!
Serbia was always famous about athletics and especially basketball or for morbid reasons that they were never responsible of but not about metal bands. So our surprise was big when we checked the origin of the Void Inn, this unique mixture of alternative metal with slower metal styles,
To say the whole truth, the main people of the band, the guitarist Sinisa and the singer Jelena , completed their musical studies in LA, where they also founded the band. At the end of 2011 they moved back to Serbia and they continued with the band.
Their new sophomore album “End This Game” sounds really mature and well-crafted with beautiful guitar work and vocal lines that will remind you the best days of Alice In Chains e.t.c. While not the best comparison, this is useful so that you can understand the style of their melodies.
The band sound like the most metal band of grunge bands. Slow riffing ala Black Sabbath and some prog parts that offer plenty of variety to their sound can make a lot of metalheads to enjoy their stuff.
The title track could rank as the album’s best song. A gothic intro is followed by very beautiful vocal melodies that lead to a catchy chorus.
“Stay Young” is another highlight (there are more on the album) and again the duet on the guitars and vocals shine with their presence. Heavy but also melodic musicianship with some talented and aggressive singing.
It’s hard to fault this band for trying to mix grunge with modern metal. The result sounds really promising and unique! It’s a good and solid work with some killer tunes!
