SIBERIAN

Siberian is a heavy metal band from Linköping, Sweden that finds it’s influences in the american sludge and post-metal scene. Mix it together with their Scandinavian background and you will start to get an idea what Siberian is all about. Uncompromising walls of sound meets melody and melancholia.

Post-metal inspired experimentation with sitars, flutes and bag-pipes. Faintest traces of atmospheric black-metal clashing with cranking moments of hardcore sludge. Jubilant melodies and fiery war drums.

Siberian released their theme-based debut album ‘Modern Age Mausoleum’ in 2014. It was the first chapter in Siberian’s ‘Age trilogy’. The album displays a Orwellian view of the modern society. After several tour cycles the band started to work with what was going to become their next release.

The band worked with the documentation of all their personal dreams. The material became the foundation of what was to become their second theme-based release in the trilogy  named ‘Through Ages of Sleep’. The follow-up explores the subconscious mind in dreams and is portrayed both sonically and lyrically. The album takes Siberian a step further sounding more mature and grown up compared to the previous debut. The band have stated in interviews that they shun away from any musical rules and focus only on writing what feels right. Which becomes very clear on the new record.

Since the release the band evolved their musicality and added new members to the group expandning the band from a three-piece to a quintet. Focusing on writing new material with new instruments in the band. Siberian is introducing it’s new members with a new live EP ‘Live at Studio Underjord’ set to be released in February 2019.

SNAKE TONGUEIn a world where the darkest sides of humanity rears their ugly heads again and again, there is no escape and no excuse. We are ”at fault like all the rest”. Snake Tongue does not point fingers, we are all a part of what goes on around us, one way or another. Stand by, march along or choose a different path. Emerged in the ashes of Linköpings hardcore scene Snake Tongue set out to mix things up, taking the pulse from punk and hardcore, the rotten breath of grindcore and the bloody broken bones of metal and melt it all together.

 

The band had their live debut opening up for Doomriders and Coliseum witch also led to an opportunity to get Kurt Ballou (GodCity, Converge) to mix their 2016 debut album Raptors Breath, recorded by Ulf Blomberg (HoboRec) and released by The Sign Records. With the bands ambition to blend all kinds of extreme music into one entity it also opened up to play with different types of bands gaining a broad following in the  hardcore-, punk- and metal scenes. During 2016 Snake Tongue toured Sweden and mainland Europe with shows in Czech Republic and Slovakia as highlights.

 

Lineup changes in the band and touring left a tight knit group with a common focus and goal. There are unwritten rules in music and invisible lines that people are afraid to cross. Repeated trends come and go, like in the mainstream music and society. Also people tend to like their d-beat served in a certain way, they don’t like this and they for sure don’t like that. Sometimes conservative, comes to mind when thinking of how it all works out. Snake Tongue never liked rules and Snake Tongue don’t care. There are no rules and music should be creative, music should touch feelings, stimulate new thoughts and music should be challenging. It should also lead to meeting new people and experience new parts of the world. A short tour 2017 together with legendary Mexican punk band Massacre68 led to deep friendship and a possibility to play in Mexico 2018.

 

With the new No Escape – No Excuse EP the band wanted to have a more rough and dirty sound than the quite polished 2016 debut album Raptors Breath. The dark and harsh lyrics of the EP reflects a reality/society in decline, but also calls for action, resistance and reflection. This time they entered the studio with Seth Norder (Witchery, Nekrokraft) as producer to get the right darkness. As on Raptors Breath Brad Boatright (Audiosiege) did the mastering, adding the cutting edge.

 

Snake Tongue offers no answers but ask for reflection, afterthought and self awareness. We can not escape reality and we can not use apathy as an excuse. ”Where is my heart?” is the question in track Dystopian Slumber, do I want to be a spectator and watch the world downfall on a screen or do I want to be apart of our reality, take responsibility and strive for a better world for all? There’s no escape and no excuse – Snake Tongue is the soundtrack to the impending apocalypse.
