“Worshipers Of The Ancient Necromancy” feels darker and more ritualistic than your debut. How did your sound evolve between the two albums?
So we wanted to create something even darker and more eerie, and of course, we wanted it to go with the title of the new album, so the whole result came out very simply.
What was the core artistic and philosophical vision behind this new record?
We wanted to honor and celebrate the ancient ceremonies that took place in ancient Greece. A tribute to the ancient ancestors and the great god of the underworld, Hades.
Your music blends elements of Greek and Scandinavian black metal traditions. Which bands or scenes influenced this direction the most?
For sure, we got elements from these 2 scenes from our first steps as a band. A big influence for us is bands like Gorgoroth, Burzum, Mayhem, old Dimmu Borgir, Rotting Christ (first records), Marduk, and more.
The album explores themes such as necromancy, ancient magic, and spiritual transcendence. Where do you draw inspiration for these lyrical concepts?
As I said above in another question, the rituals of ancient necromancy, black magic, hymns to the god Hades, and, of course, the vast ancient history and myths of our country. All of this is a great inspiration
“Celebrating the Coronation of Grand Evil” was chosen as the first single. What makes this track the perfect introduction to the album?
It’s the fastest and thrashiest track of the album. It’s a kind of difference among the other songs, and that’s why we decided to introduce the new record with the Celebrating….
How did the songwriting process develop among the band members, and what roles did Zeratul and Hellmaster666 play in shaping the album?
Zeratul and Hellmaster666 are the main and most important composers in general of the new and the older albums. There is amazing chemistry between us, and I think that is clearly visible.
The record carries a strong ritualistic atmosphere. How important is the overall spiritual and conceptual experience compared to the musical composition itself?
For us, it plays a big role. In our dark moments, we get inspired and compose songs or lyrics. All of that plays a role. You can’t compose if there’s no darkness inside you. It’s a way of life for us.
The visual identity of the album is very distinctive. How closely did you collaborate with Wolf’s Path to create the artwork and aesthetic direction?
Wolf’s Path is like family in a way! They know us perfectly, and so they understood from the beginning and felt what we were looking for in the cover.
How do you feel this album positions you within the modern Greek black metal scene?
From my perspective, I think it’s a good BM album, and I’m actually happy with the overall result. But I think the listeners will have to answer this question too.
How do you plan to translate the dark and mystical atmosphere of the album into your live performances?
We will do our best to perform the new album live. In the last few performances so far, we have received positive comments.
