Good ole Uncle Ted aka TED NUGENT – kicked off his 2022 Detroit Muscle Tour in Clearwater, FL at Ruth Eckerd Hall in raucous fashion. At 74 years young Ted STILL has an amazing amount of passion and energy for his music. This was evident during the show in which Ted and his band, which includes bassist Greg Smith and drummer Jason Hartless, scorched the hot Florida night with a kick ass set of rock n roll – Ted style. As the night started off with the 70’s classic STRANGLEHOLD all in attendance had the tone set for what was happening – a sonic onslaught!

Nugent was his typical self – full of swagger and always reminded the crowd about passion, energy, spirit, funk and attitude! The band sounded like they had been on the road for months, super tight and locked in. The set list (see it above) contained mostly old classic Ted Nugent songs. The obvious like “Free For All”, “Cat Scratch Fever” and “Wang Dang Sweet Poontang” but also a treats like “Gonzo”, “Good Friends And a Bottle of Wine”. Nugent also played 2 new songs from his recently released “Detroit Muscle” album – one of which is a political statement referring to the USA Government wanting to confiscate citizens’ guns and firearms. The song is called “Come and Take It”, where the chorus says “Go ahead and try, go ahead and die!”. As Ted started the song “Come and Take It” briefly was switched to “Let’s Go Brandon”, then, for the rest of the song, it morphed into “Fuck Joe Biden!” ( #FJB ) which had the crowd on their feet erupting in agreement.

Now – for those who don’t know – Ted only tours during the Summer because he’s hunting the rest of the year SO, make sure and go see TED NUGENT live in concert this summer if you can!!! Great energy and a celebration of the spirit of rock n roll!!!
