Hailing from Sparta, Greece, Social Scream have already made it to their 3rd full length album. “Organic Mindset” is a furious heavy metal meets heavy/thrash metal album with modern touches and many excellent moments.
Social Scream basically move on the thin rope of old school and modern heavy metal. In their work the one moment you will be drowned to old heavy metal and thrash patterns and riffs and the other you will find yourself balancing in post/groove/modern metal.
The first single of the album is “Truth Divider”. A domination of riffs. Social Scream show their technical skills on the lead part of the song.
Other noteworthy song is the of Mercyful Fate evilness “Connect”. The mid tempo riffs of the song work really well with the modern elements. There is a nice atmosphere in the song enhanced by whispering vocals and acoustics.
Another standout track is “Insane Sun” where the string instruments work perfect in making a song that fans of American heavy metal will dig.
“War Demons” is a fantastic metal ballad, one of these songs that when I was younger used to be favorites in non core metal circles, but all metalheads still loved them. Imagine a Judas Priest chord progress and an attempt to reach their feeling.
Last but not least, “Taleton”. That’s my favorite song of the album. A 10-minute opus with eastern-folk arrangements and heavy metal passion. The changes within the song are countless making it a prog/heavy/rock/metal little masterpiece in my eyes.
Social Scream released a very nice album. I enjoyed “Organic Mindset” very much and so will you. Support the Spartans.
