Once again we must give a huge shout out to GROOVEYARD RECORDS for supplying us with some kick ass guitar driven rock n roll to review for you all!!! Their latest submission to us is the band SNAKE HEAD RITUAL, a straight ahead bluesy and groove oriented guitar rock band. The boys hail from Ohio(USA)and give you an album that has NO filler. These guys are a tiny bit of blues, almost a Southern feel(especially in the vocals)and the rhythm section shows great moments of groove, like funk-ish groove, but all in the pocket to retain that true American rock n roll sound. I like bands that don’t fuck around and give you their guts on a platter and that is what these rockers do! The opening track MAMA reminds of another band that kind of remained obscure in the 90’s/2000’s – ever hear of a band called HAIR OF THE DOG? These guys have a very similar sound. I really liked the songs GONE WHEN I GET HOME and THE CHASE. Songs like 3-19, SWEET MOLINA – SHE’S SO RECKLESS have that groove, and combined with some nice guitar riffs, equals a knockout formula!!!! Straight ahead rockers like STRANGE WORLD, THE GOLDEN AGE OF ROCK N ROLL and AIN’T GOT TIME FOR THE BLUES make this a very solid guitar rock album you will really enjoy!!!
