SLEEK (Hard Rock – Greece 🇬🇷) – Interview for KICKASS FOREVER via Angels PR Worldwide Music Promotion #sleek #bandinterview #hardrock
Thank you to Angels PR Worldwide Music Promotion for providing this interview!!!!!

The press release states that “A LIFE IN CHAINS” captures the band’s identity. What are the key ingredients of that identity, both musically and lyrically?
“A Life in Chains” is everything that defines SLEEK right now — raw emotion, big riffs, melodic hooks, and lyrics that come straight from real experiences. Musically, we blend high-energy hard rock with melodic lines that carry weight and honesty. Lyrically, we talk about freedom, struggle, resilience, and the invisible chains we all carry. Our identity is built on authenticity — no filters, no trends, just honest rock ’n’ roll shaped by who we are and what we’ve lived.
You describe your sound as a balance between modern and classic hard rock. What are your main influences from classic rock and which from modern, and how do they connect in your sound?
Classic hard rock shaped our DNA — bands like Van Halen, Dokken, Bon Jovi, Poison, Guns N’ Roses, and the emotional storytelling of Springsteen. From the modern side, we draw inspiration from the energy, clarity, and punch of today’s melodic rock bands, like H.E.A.T. and Crazy Lixx. We love the production depth of modern rock, but we never let go of the grit and fire of the ’80s. SLEEK sits exactly in that sweet spot: nostalgic at heart, but alive and evolving in the present.
You declared: “A LIFE IN CHAINS” is the voice of those who refuse to remain bound. What are these “chains” that you want to break through your music?
These chains are the things we all fight against — fear, self-doubt, toxic expectations, loneliness, and the pressure to fit into a world that keeps getting colder and more isolated. Our music is a reminder that you can break free, even if the chains don’t disappear completely. It’s about choosing truth over comfort, connection over numbness, and passion over routine. Rock music has always been about liberation — and this song is our way of shouting it out loud.
The use of hard riffs, powerful vocals, and lyrical honesty is apparent. What is your songwriting process? Do you start with a riff, a lyric, or a general mood?
It depends on the song. Most of the time Joe – our singer – brings a chord progression and a vocal melody that already carries a mood — sadness, rebellion, nostalgia, fire. From there, the band takes over: building grooves, adding riffs, experimenting with keyboards, shaping layers. The song becomes something new, something… SLEEK.
Other times, the spark comes from the guitars — usually Nick E laying down the backbone: riffs, solos, the whole structure. And once that’s in place, the melodies and lyrics fall naturally into place. It’s always a team effort. The mood leads the way; we just follow it until the song tells us it’s done.
Please tell us a few things about the making of the “A LIFE IN CHAINS” lyric video.
The lyric video for “A Life in Chains” is intentionally simple and raw. We didn’t want something overproduced — we wanted something real. That’s why the video focuses almost entirely on Joe’s close-up performance, capturing every expression and every moment of tension behind the lyrics.
It’s a low-budget production, but that actually worked in our favor. The minimal setup highlights the emotion of the song without distractions. The tight framing, the shadows, and the direct eye contact with the camera create an intimate, almost confrontational atmosphere that fits perfectly with the theme of breaking free from personal restraints.
The dynamic lyrics flashing on screen act like thoughts running through someone’s mind during that struggle. Honest, stripped-down, and exactly what the song needed.
The lyric video for “Still Hurts” was also recently released. What is the connection between the two tracks, “A LIFE IN CHAINS” and “Still Hurts,” and how do they reflect the overall album theme?
“Still Hurts” is the emotional core of the album — the wound. “A Life in Chains” is the fire — the fight to break free.
Together, they represent the two sides of the same journey: hurt, reflection, rebellion, release.
Both tracks explore vulnerability and strength, loss and resistance. They reflect the album’s central theme: feeling deeply, fighting honestly.
How does the production process for your new material differ from your previous work?
Still Hurts is our first album, so everything we’re doing now is built on the lessons of that experience. Back then, we were still discovering our sound, our chemistry, and our workflow. It was a period of experimentation and learning.
Now, with new material, we feel more confident and more connected. The production process is tighter, more intuitive, and more focused — but still open to creative risks.
Greg’s dual role on drums and keyboards has also opened new sonic pathways.
The first album taught us who we are. The new material shows who we’re becoming.
You mention that “Every listen, every share, is our fuel!” How important is direct interaction with the audience on social media and YouTube for you today?
It’s everything. The rock scene has changed — connection happens both on stage and online. Every comment, every share, every message keeps the fire alive.
We’re a band that feeds off energy, and social media gives us access to fans across the world. It’s not about algorithms — it’s about building a community that grows with us.
Energy is a key characteristic of your band. How does this raw energy translate from the studio to your live performances?
the studio, we try to capture the spark — the intensity, the interplay, the emotion between us. But on stage, everything explodes. The crowd amplifies our chemistry. We play harder, louder, and with more instinct.
The songs stretch, evolve, explode. What you hear on the album is the blueprint. What you get live is the full force of SLEEK.
What is the main message you want listeners to take away after hearing the entire “Still Hurts” album?
That it’s okay to feel deeply — to hurt, to hope, to fall, to fight your way back.
Still Hurts is about the human experience in all its messy, beautiful contradictions.
If someone listens to the album and feels less alone — even for a moment — then we’ve done our job.
Rock music heals. It reminds you you’re alive.
What are the next steps for Sleek? New releases, live shows, or a tour?
All of them. We’re writing new material, and one or two tracks already stand out enough to become early singles. At the same time, we’re planning live shows in Greece and pushing for opportunities abroad.
Our goal is simple: keep the momentum going, stay creative, and share our music with as many people as possible.
