Thrash metal ruled the 80’s. This sick mixture of heavy metal and punk was destined to dominate the metal world for many years. Time passed and thrash was outdated. But over the last years a comeback was made!
Skull Koraptor from Greece on their first full length “Chaos Station” respect all thrash values and bring them forth to their world of today!
Their music is a relentless thrash metal holocaust with some amazing riffs which owe their existence in (old) Metallica, Overkill and Megadeth.
The band writes awesome and memorable melodic lines in their songs. The double lined lead guitars give a spacey atmosphere and then the vocals throw you down to earth on a lonely street, at night. All you need is a bottle of beer to enjoy this trip.
Fast and clever riffs and thick double bass throw you on the wall. The band has an amazing vibe and energy. The whole album is a thrash dynamite.
I have always thought that thrash metal is best on stage. So, I suppose their live shows should be blasting killer!
However, in some of their songs Skull Koraptor unfold their love for heavy metal and they perform some excellent heavy/thrash riffs too. The rhythm changes within their songs are fabulous.
Standout tracks for me would be: “Hatred”, “Next Station” and “Voices of Despair” in an excellent album that sets the standards too high for the band. Greek fans will see them live on the Athenian show of Sodom in few weeks. If you drop by in Athens, don’t miss this live!
