SKATING POLLY – to Tour Western Canada This September #skatingpolly
Female-fronted step sibling trio Skating Polly will be touring Western Canada this September, with performances in Vancouver, Rossland, Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg. The multi-instrumentalist, self proclaimed “ugly pop” artists mix alternative, pop, punk, and grunge musical genres, citing Babes in Toyland, X, Nirvana and Veruca Salt as their musical influences while creating a sound all their own.
Hailing from Tacoma, Washington by way of Oklahoma, Skating Polly was born when front-women Kelli Mayo and Peyton Bighorse became step-sisters ten years ago. Known for their unbelievably high energy, dynamic, creative performances, and what Vice referred to as their “teen movie soundtrack wave” sound, Skating Polly has toured with Kate Nash, and has written songs with Exene Cervenka from X, as well as Veruca Salt’s Louise Post and Nina Gordon. Their most recent release “The Make it All Show”, produced by Brad Wood (Liz Phair), has received international acclaim, solidifying the trio in alt-rock history.
Often drawing comparisons to Courtney Love, Noisey commented “Forget Courtney Love…Skating Polly are the new girls with the most cake”.
