Hello guys and congratulations for the release of “The Circles of Hell” full length, a very powerful release. Please tell us more about the album.
Hello and thank you … we started recordings about the album immediately after the release of our first EP. It took at about 9 months along with the mix and it was released exactly one year after our first EP! We are very happy for the result. It is an album that all fans of the genre will enjoy listening without skipping any tracks and that was exactly what we wanted to achieve.
How do you feel about your first full length release which happens 24 years after the band’s initial formation?
Emotions are really intense and I certainly feel nothing less than satisfaction and pride!
When was the band formed and why it remained for over 20 years inactive? Please give us a short bio of the band.
The band was formed back in 1995 by a group of teenagers. We used to rehearse in our spare time after school and in the summers we were recordings some demos. After this, everybody in the band followed different paths either for work or for studies and all this distance marked the end of the band. All this time we were playing with different bands and projects but only for hobby until 2018!
What was the motive for the reunion and what feedback do you get so far?
It was the re-performance of the demo song “Far Away” and the meeting with an old friend and our current drummer Yiannis Antonopoulos who gave us the opportunity to start giving life to something new again. Later, this song became our first video clip under the guidance of Bob Katsionis and then came the creation of the EP!
Your comeback 2018 EP “The War Is Here” received many positive reviews. Did you expect it?
To tell the whole truth, it was much more positive than we expected, so all of this gave us wings to start preparing the full album and show to the audience that we came back to stay!
How do you see power/progressive metal of today?
Nowadays, metal stage is huge and unfortunately I can’t keep an eye to all of them. I’ve been listening and collecting since 1986 and I’ve always tried to be informed about everything, but now unfortunately there are millions of bands in the world, so that you can’t watch them. There are some many great known and unknown bands and it’s just a shame that the musical industry doesn’t allow to all of them to become famous!
Which bands have influenced your sound?
Ηelloween, Edguy, Gamma ray, Judas Priest, Stratovarius and Iced earth.
Who is the main composer and who writes the lyrics of Silent Winter?
I am the main composer and lyricist but the whole band helps as much as possible for the best result!
What do we need to know about the Greek Metal scene in general? Is there a Power/Progressive scene in Greece? And what about the metal scene of your city, Volos?
The Greek scene has nothing to envy from the rest of the world! Now the producers are perfect, the level of the musicians has risen a lot and memorable albums are released every year.. Volos is a small city, but lately our local scene is growing with the reunion of old bands but also the creation of new ones.
What are your current live/tour plans?
At the moment we have no plans. Unfortunately, after the global pandemic, we were forced to cancel 4 shows and now we are waiting to see what will happen about the new dates.
Thank you for the interview and good luck with the new album!
Thank you for the hospitality. We wish health to all people!
