SERENITY BROKEN INTERVIEW

Hello and thank you for your time!!!

How are you Broken Serenity?! What inspired the idea behind your name and how you guys came together?

The band was formed in 2010 by Aris Louziotis (vocals) Andreas Papadopoulos (guitars) and Vic Pasagiannidis (drums). We all knew each other from before as we grew up in the same neighborhood. Out of coincidence all three of us happened to be hanging out at Vic’s place and just picked up our instruments started jamming and some good sh!t came out! It all happened quite organically we enjoyed hanging out and playing music! It was when we started writing some songs that we thought “hey let’s start a band”!

– Give us 5 bands that their sound shaped your music

We all have different tastes and influences in music. That is what creates the bands sound! But some common influences are, Alice In Chains, Metallica, Guns And Roses, Godsmack, Dead Kennedys

– Back in 2012 you released «Commerical Suicide» and Metalstorms awards awarded you among Deftones , Gojira ,Stone sour etc. How that happened and how did you feel about it?

To be honest we were shocked and amazed that our album was there with the “greats”!!! How it got to be there I don’t really know, we are just very grateful that the audience like what we do!

-What was the story and the best memories during the recording sessions of your first album?

We started working on the first album pretty much as soon as we started the band, some of our very first songs ended up in the album. The whole time we spent recording the album is full of great memories! From the first time we walked in the studio to record the first drum tracks, to hearing the songs mixed! We were just starting out and doing a whole record by ourselves, it was just music, friends and beer!

– What are the themes that inspire your lyrics?

Music for me in a way is very cathartic, it’s a way to deal with emotions that are difficult to express with just words. The lyrics usually deal with every day experiences and feelings. The meaning is different in every song whether it is addiction, love, hate it truly depends on the song or what i am going through at the time. But I believe that songs can mean different things to different people and that is the beauty of music.

– After 9 years in the underground scene, what would your advice yourselves if you could go back in time in day one?

I try to live my life with no regrets, mainly because we are who we are because of what we have experienced or done in the past so I would not want to change something.

– What’s your biggest goal as band?

We would like to be able to reach a wider audience and keep on writing music!

– Are there any plans for live performances in Europe?

We are always on the lookout to do a tour of Europe, but financially it’s very difficult for an underground band to do so.

– Tell us a few things about Faint slit videoclip. What’s the concept behind it?

Faint Slit is a song about being locked up within ones negative emotions and how we can be our own worst enemy. We tried to capture that feeling by being in a small confined place, no bells and whistles just simple and raw.
