Description:
The music of Secret Alliance is a combination of  hard rock, heavy metal, classic seventies progressive rock with a modern touch in the sound and in the arrangements. A well combined mixture of styles, well fused together. The songs have a solid modern rock sound but the dynamics in the sounds and arrangements are one of the band’s strongest points. Odd times are used very frequently with ease, so much so that everything goes smoothly to the listener’s ear. Aggressive sounds and elegant arrangement create an original contrast that makes the bands sound sweet and sour, hard and delicate at the same time.

Influences for the album:
Not easy to mention specific influences for this album; classic hard rock bands like Black Sabbath can be found in tempo changes in many tracks. There are definitely modern influences too, from jazz music, like the piano solo in ‘The arise’ and arrangements here and there, scratchy keyboard and synth sounds that can be listened in bands from Prodigy or Depeche Mode to Kansas or even Rush. In general the album contains a short summary of many rock styles and sounds well matched together, where every song has a convincing identity and structure. You will never feel a forcing in songs, vocals or sounds; everything is built with elegance and aesthetic sense.

Bio:
Secret Alliance starts initially as a solo project of the Italian guitarist and producer Gianluca Galli already founder and former of Mantra, Time Machine and Silver Horses, to name a few. Gianluca started working on the songs for the album with the intention to explore the modern and classic heavy rock sound with some progressive influences.

The drumming needed for such sound had to be very creative and technical.. and Ricardo Confessori was the right drummer. He joined immediately with enthusiasm and gave really his best drumming, also playing patterns and odd tempos never heard before in his bands Angra and Shaman. One of Gianluca’s dream was to involve one of the greatest bassist of the modern rock history, Tony Franklin, and Tony was happy to participate as well. So the Secret Alliance took his form.

The band’s first debut album was released in January 2020 and is titled “Solar Warden”  In this debut there are special guests who have joined this record as Frank Gambale (guitarist of the Chick Corea Band), one of the influences of Gianluca, Alex Masi, the Italian-American virtuoso guitarist and two old friends like Andrea Bartolini, bassist of the Mantra and Andrea Castelli, first bassist of Mantra and bassist of Silver Horses.

The perfect voice for this music was definitely Andrea Ranfagni, one of the most active and talented singers in Italy in the heavy rock scene, with also a background of international collaborations such as Ian Paice, Bernie Marsden, Don Airey, Glenn Hughes and many others, besides to be the lead singer of the second Silver Horses album having replaced Tony Martin (ex Black Sabbath) in this role. The songs on the first album all have a common line, a classic heavy rock sound with modern progressive influences where guitar riffs are the pillars of songwriting.

All the texts and atmospheres lead to a sort of futuristic science fiction reality, touching on topics such as the end of the world, aliens and secret space programs, the beliefs of the masses, virtual reality. The second album “Revelation” has a more progressive sound than the first, with the more pronounced insertion of keyboards. Even in this work, the theme and atmosphere of the first album always remains, where the dominant themes are the uncertainty of modern life, false beliefs mixed with futuristic visions and the uncertainty of the future.
