1. “Requiem for a Damned Love” is your debut album — how would you describe the emotional or conceptual thread that runs through it?

Requiem for a Damned Love is a concept album that tells a dark and tormented love story, where passion, madness, and tragedy become inseparable. The protagonist, overwhelmed by emotional instability, takes an extreme action and kills the man she loves. He returns from the afterlife seeking to understand what truly happened and to guide her toward a final chance for peace and redemption.
The emotional thread of the album is a journey into the most fragile and profound aspects of the human soul, where love and destruction coexist, and where light can only emerge after passing through the deepest darkness.

2. The band blends power metal energy with gothic darkness. How did this duality become the foundation of your sound?

This duality came naturally from the blend of our different musical influences and from the desire to create something that truly represented who we are. Power metal gives us strength, energy, and the epic impact of guitars and rhythm, while the gothic and dark elements come especially from the vocals and keyboards, bringing deeper, dramatic, and cinematic atmospheres.
In the creative process, each of us contributes our own background and emotional perspective, and this natural fusion allows us to transform feelings into music, finding a personal balance between melody, darkness, and power.

3. You began as a trio — Claudio, Antonella, and Giuseppe — before expanding into a full lineup. How did the addition of new members shape your creative direction?

In the beginning, we were part of another band, which eventually came to an end. When we realized the strong artistic chemistry between the three of us, we decided to continue together and create a new project — Risen Crow. Later, Flavio, Filippo, Francesco, and Alessandro joined, completing the lineup.
The addition of new members brought fresh ideas, new sounds, and different creative perspectives, enriching the songs both technically and emotionally. Everyone contributed their own musical personality and involvement in the arrangements, playing an essential role in shaping the band’s musical identity.

4. The title track, “Risen Crow”, sets a powerful tone. What does the image of the “crow” represent for you artistically and symbolically?

The crow is a powerful symbol, rich with deep meaning. In ancient times it was seen as a messenger between the world of the living and the dead, a bridge between light and darkness. For us, it represents rebirth and transformation — which is why Risen refers to something risen or reborn.
The band’s name reflects what we were experiencing when the project was born — the need to start again after a difficult period and turn something painful into creative strength. The crow is a silent observer, a guide and witness to the story we tell in the concept album, a symbol of truth rising back to the surface from darkness.

5. Each of your three singles — “Risen Crow”, “Believe in Me”, and “Black Widow” — showcases a slightly different mood. Was that intentional to show your range as a new band?

Yes, it was intentional. We wanted to introduce not only the musical identity of the band but also the emotional and narrative variety that defines the album. Each single presents a different shade of our sound: from powerful and energetic elements, to more intimate and dramatic atmospheres, to darker and more intense tones.
This diversity reflects the complexity of the story we tell and allows us to showcase the different sides of the band, without confining ourselves to a single stylistic direction.

 

6. How do your individual musical backgrounds influence your songwriting and arrangement process?

Our musical backgrounds are very different from one another, and that diversity is what makes our creative process unique. Some of us come from more technical and traditional metal, others from symphonic and orchestral influences, and others from modern or experimental genres.

When we write, we usually start from a core idea — a riff, a vocal line, a chord progression, or an atmosphere — and then each member contributes with their own perspective. It’s a highly collaborative process where different influences blend to shape the final sound.

The balance between power, emotional intensity, orchestral elements, and darker shades is the natural result of these varied backgrounds coming together.

7. The album feels cinematic — full of drama and atmosphere. Do you approach songwriting with visual or narrative elements in mind?

Absolutely. A key part of our creative process is imagining music as the soundtrack to a story or a visual scene. While composing, we often picture colors, environments, and specific emotions we want the listener to feel.

Since the album has a strong narrative concept, each track represents a chapter of the story, contributing to an emotional journey. Our goal is to create a cinematic experience, where the listener not only hears the music but also sees what it is trying to express.
