PARZIVAL – “The Golden Bough” album to be released by Moondrop Records on September 20, 2019 #parzival
NEW ALBUM FROM PARZIVAL – OCCULT BOMBASTIC ART FOR KALIYUGA VOYAGEURS
Parzival is one of the oldest Danish underground bands still existing. Original started as an industrial outfit under the name Stiff Miners, and have throughout their career released nine albums (eleven albums, if you include the Stiff Miners albums) – and is now settling for their tenth album “The Golden Bough”.
The bombastic, wagnerish sound of Parzival have changed a lot through the years due to the groups constant hunger for new ways of defining their cinematic and atmospheric style that have taken them through martial industrial, symphonic EBM, atmospheric metal, darkwave, electro as well as strong influences from Russian, European and Asian folk music.
On their upcoming new album “The Golden Bough”, Parzival have reintroduced electric guitars and acoustic drums, turning their sound into a more traditional rock sound, but still with majestic layers of their wellknown bombastic and dramatic soundscapes. Some parts even take influence from 70’s atmospheric rock, doom metal and other styles which is new in the sound of Parzival.
Lyrical inspiration for the new album is taken from the book “The Golden Bough”, written by the Scottish anthropologist Sir James George Frazer, which fits very well to the concept of Parzival, which is going deeply into mixing magic and religion.
Whereas all the former albums of Parzival has been in German, Russian, Latin and Sanskrit, “The Golden Bough” is the first Parzival album (almost) entirely in English language. Only one song is in German.
Since their formation in 1996 on the ashes of the group Stiff Miners, Parzival have played numerous gigs and festivals, including performances with acts as Death In June, Derniere Volonte, Of The Wand & The Moon, And Also The Trees, Rome, Soror Dolorosa, Ostara, Saturnus, and festivals such as Wave Gotik Treffen and Entremuralhas.
After the release of the new album, Parzival will perform at different festivals such as NCN (Nocturnal Culture Night) in Germany, Zagovor Festival in Ukraine as well as gigs in several other countries.
“The Golden Bough” will be released by Moondrop Records, which is the new label of Peter Mesnickow – former A&R and co-creator of Euphonious Records (signing acts such as Saturnus, Solbrud, Of The Wand & The Moon, Withering Surface, Exmortem etc.) and former A&R, promotion and label manager at Mighty Music. Peter Mesnickow have been working close with the band since the very beginning.
“The Golden Bough” will be released as CD, LP and digital on September 20 – 2019 on Moondrop Records.
