Panos Stergiou is a pop/alternative songwriter from Greece.
“Know Thyself” is his second full length album.
Panos has a concept in “Know Thyself” and that is to encourage the listener to learn himself. For Panos this is a constant life-time search that can only make someone better. It’s only if we get to know our true selves that we can help us, the others and society in general. It’s not easy, but it’s worth trying. And Panos gives us some good reasons with his songs.
His lyrics are in English, which is an asset for non-Greek fans.
Music-wise the album dwells between the 60’s pop melodies and the 90’s alternative/indie pop. You will listen to straight Beatles pop melodies and then their sons from the 90’s like Placebo, The Cure, The Charlatans or Oasis to name a few. Panos music is unlike all the aforementioned bands, but he is somewhere in between. The orchestrations are very nice making the album a pleasure experience to listen to.
Tracks like “Royal Road” are radio friendly and I am sure they will already have lots of airplays.
Other exceptional songs are “Love and Death” and “The Price of Apathy” both with very nice melodies and new wave/alternative guitars.
Overall “Know Thyself” won’t disappoint fans of pop/alternative/indie music. Check it out! I am sure Panos will get back soon with new music and I am really anxious what will be in his mind this time.
