NIGHT DEMON is a special band to me, a band that makes me feel the future of heavy metal music will live on and on. This site I started was built for bands like Night Demon, for all of you headbangers out there who might not know who they are, to be made aware that fresh, new metal is being made and the heavy metal flag is still being flown high! That being said, Night Demon has already produced some quality music and their new live album should catapult them into heavy metal stardom.

Night Demon quickly reminds us older headbangers of a style of music known as NWOBHM, that stands for New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. This style of metal started in the early 1980’s and some bands went on to become very successful acts. Bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard(well, at least their first 2 albums were metal! LOL!), RAVEN, and Saxon. There were plenty of bands in this genre that didn’t achieve the success or stability of those already mentioned. Bands like ANGEL WITCH, TYGERS OF PAN TANG, JAGUAR, HOLOCAUST, MORE, CHEVY, SAVAGE, SILVER MOUNTAIN,  made some great music but they burnt out fast and the genre quickly disappeared. There’s been a kind of resurrecting of this style of music in the last few years as younger metal fans seem to be embracing it. Along comes a band like Night Demon who have really taken influences from a lot  of the bands I just mentioned and made their own sound that really brings me back to that NWOBHM invasion that happened so long ago. The cool thing about Night Demon is that they do NOT sound dated, what I mean is when you hear them, it still sounds fresh.

There have been so many bands that made pivotal live albums early on in their career that made the band bigger than they were before. A band like KISS who were thrust into superstardom after releasing 3 studio albums that were great but barley sold, then released the ultimate live album KISS ALIVE! and boom, we all know what happened after that! Night Demon hasn’t been around all that long, and they put 23 songs onto their first live album!!!! You get a little bit of everything here, songs like WELCOME TO THE NIGHT, CHALICE, ON YOUR OWN, RITUAL, I mean there isn’t one bad song in the lot. Their execution is top-notch too.

I can’t emphasis enough how important this album, this band is, to the well-being of metal and heavy metal’s future. I’ve seen them live, had a chance to hang out with them, and beyond being a great band they are great people, really cool and down to Earth. When I hear songs on this live album like SAVE ME NOW, MAIDEN HELL, LIFE ON THE RUN, SCREAMS IN THE NIGHT, I can rest assured the music genre I have loved since I was 12 years old is not only alive and well, but in good hands with bands like NIGHT DEMON making music and a live album like this. A smile creeps onto my face as I write that, so thanks to Jarvis Leatherby(the hardest working man in Metal today!), Armand John Anthony and Dusty Squires. I can only hope this band lasts forever, stay metal and get this, and ALL NIGHT DEMON albums, you won’t be disappointed!!!!!
