Man I was SO excited when I learned that the Master of Deathpunk, HANK VON HELL, was going to tour America for the first time as a solo act, I just HAD to go! With no shows scheduled in my new home State of Florida, I decided to take trek back to my original home State of New York, and catch 2 shows on Hank’s “Pretty Decent Tour”!!!! Hopefully you all got a chance to check out part 1 of my 2 days in Hell with Hank Von Hell, the interview! KAF Interview with HANK!!!!  Getting to see TWO concerts, and a chance to sit down with Hank?! I had to go!!!!!

I saw the Hank Von Hell band on consecutive nights, the first being at Brooklyn Bazaar, in Greenpoint, NY and the second being at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster, PA. Previous to these 2 shows I had only seen Hank live one time, with his former band Turbonegro, at the Best Buy Theater (more recently known as the Playstation Theater) back in 2007. After a long absence from Rock n Roll and a kick ass new band, Hank is back!!!! These 2 shows were great fun and some really well executed LOUD rock n roll!!!!

Now, as expected, Hank only has the one solo album out (in the rock/deathunk genre) so it’s no surprise the band played most of that album. Luckily Hank has a vast catalog to dip into from his days in Turbonegro too. Now if you’re not familiar with Hank Von Hell, the man is not only a kick ass rocker, but he is basically a comedic genius too! Do yourself a favor and follow him on Social Media for daily videos that are hilarious! Opening the show with the title track from Hank’s comeback album “Egomania”, you can tell the band is tight and ready to kill! Hank was sporting a cool black jacket with extra long fringes. When hank’s band started playing shows in Europe, the band was clad in all white, but more recently it’s changed to all black(which is the usual rock n roll uniform color anyway, right? LOL!).

The band also blasted out my favorite song from “Egomania”, titled “Bum To Bum”.  It was the first single off the album, and it is a straight up rocker that is fun to listen to. All band members firing on all cylinders just makes it even that much better!  Simen Rem, Jean Genus, Dead Said Fred and newest member KJ Melgoza are just the weapons Hank needs to complete this rock n roll mission to make everyone “shake ass”!!! LOL!

We also got treated to seeing the band do the song “Fake It”. This song was written and released as a single to go with the band being part of the huge songwriting TV Contest knows as Eurovision Song Contest. The band also launched into an awesome version of the song “Blood”. This song kinda has the same vibe (sound-wise) as the Turbonegro song “Satan City” ……..

Well, there’s no other way to prove it then to show you, notice in the beginning of this next video of the band doing “Bombwalk Chic”, just how fun Hank is! He is making fun of models walking the runway, I couldn’t stop laughing! LOL!

Well, of course the show wouldn’t be totally complete without a few Turbonegro songs too —

All I can say is that both shows were just flat awesome, rockin’ and fun! If Hank is coming to your town, you MUST GO!!!! I am hoping this will continue on and on as Hank is a rare breed in the rock industry these days. His honesty and fun attitude makes him iconic and his music is just SO kick ass too! I am one rocker who is glad Hank is back, and I am going to do all I can to help him and his band keep rocking! HANK IS BACK!!!!!! Thanks again to Hank and his band members, it was a real treat getting to meet you all and see you do your thing! I can only hope it’s not too long before we meet again. KEEP KICKING ASS!!!!!!!
