First off apologies to Mascot Records for not getting this review out before the album’s release —-

MONSTER TRUCK is a 4 piece rock n roll machine hailing from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I have been into these guys for a short while now, but they’ve been around for about 10 years now. I have had the pleasure to see them 2 times live and oh boy, the rock n roll energy is through the roof when these boys turn it up! The thing I really like about them is there are a lot of different moods on their albums, but never straying to far from their middle ground, which makes it easier to listen to them. A lot of bands get stuck and after 4 songs everything starts to sound the same, Monster Truck have a great balance.

The album opens with the song TRUE ROCKER, a fun and catch upbeat tune that features the infamous DEE SNIDER as a guest. Dee spouts like an evangelist preacher about being a “true rocker” and it sounds like Dee is on stage during a TWISTED SISTER concert! It adds to the song perfectly! There are a few other really catchy and cool upbeat rockers on this album – THUNDER TRUCK, BEING COOL IS OVER, and HURRICANE. You really get the live band feeling during these tunes and it feels like the band is in the same room as you, and you want to hang out with these guys! Just really fun vibe from the tunes. There are also a few bluesy-mood songs like DEVIL DON’T CARE and UNDONE. The album’s last track HOWLIN’ is kind of ballady rock song.

There also a couple of more anthemic type of tunes, they just have chorus and parts where the dynamics stick in your head – YOUNG CITY HEARTS and EVOLUTION(video above). Like I said, the different moods make it easy to like MONSTER TRUCK! Like their slogan says – “DON’T FUCK WITH THE TRUCK!!!”.
