Meden Agan are a Gothic/Symphonic Metal Band from Athens Greece that was formed in 2005 and has been active since then. They have five full length albums under their belt including “My Name Is Katherine” an album that the band was working on during the covid restrictions. The recording and mixing process took place at the Zero Gravity studios, mastering was done by Jens Borgen (Arch Enemy, Symphony X, Angra, Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, James Lambrie etc.) and was released from Sleaszy Rider Records. The album’s cover artwork, was created by Dimitris Tzortzis Designs.

 “My Name Is Katherine” is an album that takes its title from the book that Dimitra Panariti, soprano and lead singer of the band wrote and that narrates the transformation, internal straggles that the character faces in her life. Talking about the musical part, in comparison with their penultimate the new one, is faster, heavier, with a plethora of power/progressive elements, like in “Transition” and the emotional solos in “Beyond And Suspicion”, “Shredding”. The introduction of screams at the interpretation of the soprano Dimitra Panariti enhance the feelings of sadness and disappear in “Moth”,” Shredding”, “Trapped” and Rejection. There are also songs filled with hope and determination those are “Confident” and “Victorious.”

 “My Name Is Katherine” in my opinion is the best album of the band, it is still a Gothic/Symphonic album, enriched by Power/Progressive elements, blended with screams, and melancholic symphonic parts, pleasant to the ear, that create cohesion through the album. Meden Agan made an outstanding job that will be among the best album of the year.
