Interview conducted and submitted my Marian Nicolaou for Angels PR Music Promotion

• Welcome Μarialena! How things are going about your personal project?

Hello everyone and thanks for this chance. Well things are good enough despite the situation we are passing through. We do our rehearsals waiting for our live performances and also getting ready for the official video clip.

• Are you satisfied about the feedback for your new single “Prophecies”?

I am more satisfied for all the beautiful messages and comments I received. So much love which fills me with hope and energy for now on.

• After releasing your first album, you had a break? What was the reason? Maybe Covid19?

Mainly yes. I had many plans that unfortunately I couldn`t afford. 

• How can you describe your sound?

My music is a mix of atmospheric rock and metal with a symphonic touch.

• What are your musical idols?

I have a plenty of classical singers and composers who inspired me a lot to that I am today. In metal music I was always admiring Tarja and Floor for them vocals and style as well. I adore Loreena Mc Kennitt, her music was a huge influence for me since I was very young. Sara Brightman was one of the first classical singers who made me love musical as well. There are many but let`s stay at the singers.

• The video clip for your song “Prophecies” shows a very elegant and noble side of you.  Tell us a few words and special moments about the shots.

I am honored thank you very much. I really enjoyed the shots cause the videographer is a good friend of mine and the guys at the studio enjoyed it too. They were taking photos and videos, so we worked but we had a very good time too. That is the most important for me when I am doing a video or live, to have a good team by my side and to love what they`re doin` as much as I do. I can`t say a lot for the lyric video because I was the only one in the shots an one studio. But sure I`ll have to say many things in the video clip.

• What is your opinion about the use of internet? Is this helpful about the bands or they are just being lost into a sea of information?

I think that the correct use of the internet is very helpful. There are many smart ways to use it more for promotion, something which didn`t had the older bands. The problem nowadays is that there are so many bands with so much similar music, so it`s getting hard for the listener to focus on something new really interesting and there is the spot where you`re getting lost into so much information. So I think that if you have new ideas in music and a few luck you`ll be heard. We are also passing through a strange situation with no lives, so the only solution is the internet.

• Any live plans for the band?

Many. And I really can`t wait. We just want to do a strong start, so we are waiting for things to calm down.

• What is your biggest dream about Marialena?

As every singer I suppose, to have the opportunity to sing in the biggest music festivals. I am really working hard so I am positive enough.

• How did you get started with music? Any special musical studies?

I started several years ago with classical studies in opera. I always had the dream to study music, so in the age of 19 and after some years of vocal lessons with many teachers, I decided to go in a conservatory. So my studies include music theory, piano and much more. I have a degree and I also teach. 

• What do you think about the Greek rock and metal scene? Are there any new bands that you love?

I think that we have so many talented musicians and so many good bands, but not a suitable country for this kind of music. You have to focus abroad if you want to succeed. I love older bands like septic flesh. From new bands I could say meden agan cause they are close to my music style.

Thank you once again for this opportunity. I wish things to go back to normal soon. People need the art in each one of her kinds to feel alive. I also wish health and plenty of love all around us.
