KRYN (Modern Metal – Croatia 🇭🇷) – Interview with the band via Angels PR Worldwide Music Promotion #kryn #bandinterview #modernmetal #heavymetal – Thank you!!!
On the Music & Risset
- Your latest album Risset feels both heavy and emotional, with songs like Rewind leaving a strong impression. How did you approach shaping the overall sound of this record?

We have a vision of how this band should sound, and that’s heavy, punching “in your face”guitars and bass with powerful and layered vocals. A lot of bands influence us, so its a mixture of all of the music that we look up to that left a deep mark on us. Our friend Jay Kay Productions handled our desires and visions into something that suits the album.
- The lyrics touch on themes like anxiety, loneliness, and resilience. Do you see KRYN’s music more as self-expression, or as a way to connect with fans who might be going through similar struggles?
Good question. We see it as both. This album was an outlet for the themes you mentioned, that some of us experienced, so its very true and personal, but on the other side we get a lot of messages from people who say that our music heals them, so yeah… it goes both ways.
- Before Risset dropped, you released singles like The Deceiver, Waters, and The Riven Heart. How did those tracks set the stage for the album?
We were going through a hard time with the band when those singles got released… we were barely keeping it all together, searching for new members, pushing forward, but we prevailed, found the right people and we managed to release a strong and mature album. The singles at that time represent our urge to not give up on our band and our love for metal music.

On Live Performances
- You’ve played over 150 shows across Europe, from clubs to festivals. When you step on stage, what’s the number one thing you want fans to experience at a KRYN show?
Power, emotion, connection, epic melodies that take you somewhere… freedom… awesomeness… tears, pills and rock n roll… (I think I just invented our punch line… :)) we want to share everything with them, what our idols and influences gave to us. Making this life worth living… without music I think thats fucking impossible. Music is a language and we love to tell our story.
- Zagreb’s Vintage Industrial Bar and festivals like Dark Circle Fest have been packed with your fans. What are some moments from recent gigs that really stuck with you?
Every time the audience sings the choruses from their top lungs is a special moment for us, we love that, because we know that we’re doing something good.
- Your upcoming schedule is stacked — Papa Roach, Blind Guardian, and headlining Vlajternativa Festival. How do you prepare for such different kinds of shows?
As for any… a couple of rehearsals, and a ton of logistics and planning, we need to do everything by ourselves, technical part, travel planning, crew set up, so if there is a manager out there, or a booking agency… Hello, we’re here, we can use some help! 🙂 Each show has its own focus points and things we need to take into consideration, so we try to plan accordingly… what to say, what to do, setlist adjustments and so on.

On the Band & Their Vision
- KRYN’s sound blends crushing riffs with atmospheric parts and powerful, melodic vocals. How do you balance heaviness and emotion without losing the band’s identity?
Just being true to ourselves. We pour ourselves into it, we don’t try to copy, we blend 1000 things that shaped us into something unique. That’s the only way to be different.
We don’t follow trends in metal music, we don’t do PR stunts, we don’t write songs following a formula… well we do, but we have space to dance around if it works. We’re trying to be honest and real.
- You started back in 2004 as “Downfall,” then became KRYN in 2008. Looking back, how has your journey shaped who you are today as a band?
Of course it did, you start as a kid, young, no experience, you don’t know what you want to do or how you want the band to sound like… it takes time to perfect your vision, it’s a craft, a skill like any other, and you need to keep working on it, develop it… you learn about the business, you learn how to behave on stage, you learn what’s working, what’s not… and you follow your instinct. From melodic death metal to melodic modern metal or whatever… I’m so confused with these labels when I have to describe our music that I lose interest in explaining… It’s metal. End of story.
- Your music has already reached audiences worldwide, with airplay in the UK, Australia, and beyond. How does it feel to know your songs resonate across different cultures and scenes?
It feels great, we’re grateful for that… but it’s still just a start, because it’s a sign that we can do even better… We need bigger exposure because we think this band deserves a bigger market. Croatia is not a country for metal, so our focus is the rest of the world.
On What’s Next
- Word is you’re working on a new EP. Can fans expect a continuation of the Risset sound, or are you exploring something new this time around?
Really… sorry, but we’re not 🙂 but we’re working on something… a cover… we covered one awesome pop song and I think it fits nicely into the Risset sound and this mad world we’re living in!
We gave the song a totally different thing… but expect nothing less that crushing riffs, great melodies and epic vocals.
- Beyond new music, do you see yourselves expanding into other projects — collaborations, new music videos, or maybe even a live album?
We do, other than Kryn we all have different projects we’re involved with. For example Karlo and me have an acoustic cover band Soul’d Out, Josip our guitarist is playing in Graysoul and Cold Snap, Ante has his own solo band… we’re pretty all around the place so it’s nothing new to us to be in different situations. But Kryn is our main thing and focus. Live Kryn album… sure, when the time is right.
- If you had to describe the future of KRYN in just three words, what would they be?
We will rise!
