Interview with Italian artist CASAGRANDE via Angels PR Music Promotion #casagrande
Interview conducted & submitted by Marian Nicolaou via Angels PR Music Promotion
1) Welcome Simone! How things are going about Casagrande?
Thank you, things are unexpectedly better than usual!
2) Are you satisfied about the feedback for your new single “Dying Forever”?
Of course, the youtube video is played constantly and I received nice comments.
3) What about the full album from Soman Records? Please give us some info about the recordings and the artwork.
I got in touch with them through my agent. Basically, during the lockdown, I remixed and remastered my songs and someone liked them! I know it is not like a real big studio production, but I think it fits well with its role.
The artwork came from an idea of the graphic designer, I just edited it a bit myself to reach the final result. The eye may recall the Illuminati symbol which is the topic of the song Theories, part of the album.
4) How can you describe your sound?
Well, It might be a mixture of old school thrash metal and other genres, trying to sound hard without being it.
5) What are your musical idols?
Probably I don’t have a proper idol. I was a fanatic of the old school metal band such as Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth when I was a teenager. Probably I may consider my idol all the people of the same age who never give up and still struggling to live through their music. I haven’t made it yet.
6) What is your opinion about the use of internet? Is this helpful about the bands or they are just being lost into a sea of information?
It has definitely changed the way you can get noticed and concerning live music it created a lot of new chances to play that during the late eighties were not existing. First of all, you don’t need to go personally and leave a demo. You can just send an email and the pub manager can listen to you on your website. It has also shortened the times. Think about it now. We are chatting through an email. I remember when I released my first demo in 1992 anything was done via paper mails and phone. People were writing to me to receive it and I was not able to replay quickly. Neither to send it (no money at all).
7) Any live plans for the band in the future? Or you just prefer the project option?
I’d like to play live, but it would be really hard an expensive to find out the right musicians. Some professional wants to be paid also to rehars… I would need a second guitar player too. I don’t know if I could afford it.
8) What is your biggest dream about Casagrande?
To reach the same sales of ..and justice for all by Metallica at least of Arise by Sepultura, I mean at the time of their release.
9) How did you get started with music? Any special musical studies?
I always played a bit of accordion/piano as my father did. When I was 12 I asked him to teach me because I began to listen to pop/rock bands like Duran Duran or Europe. At the age of 15 after listening to Metallica “Ride the lightning” and Iron Maiden “The number of the beast” I switched to the guitar. I started studying the classical one and a couple of years later bought my first electric. I am a self-taught guitarist.
10) What do you think about the Italian rock and metal scene? Are there any new bands that you love?
It has changed dramatically from my early days where there were just a few places where metal was played. Personally, I love this band https://www.genusordinisdei.com/, They all are very good musicians and the bassist and drummer also collaborated with Lacuna Coil in a couple of tours. I met them in a local radio and filmed the interview when they were not so famous as now. It is still available on my youtube channel as my first…
11) Congrats and good luck about your work, Simone! The last words are yours.
Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity to appearing in your magazine. Keep up the good work.
