Dave D.R is a multi-instrumentalist artist from Ontario, Canada, and founder of the one-man heavy metal project Immortalizer. In 2016, he released his first work; an EP entitled “Unleashed” and now he is producing his debut full-length album. Dave has already made public 3 songs, “Gone to Hell”, “I’m Gone” and “Lemmy”, from his upcoming work.
Before we get into specifics about the song, you should get an idea about what kind of project is the Immortalizer. Dave was inspired by heavy metal and the great bands and artists of the genre like Motorhead, Primal Fear, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Judas Priest and Saxon, just to name a few. He has also worked with the legendary metal singer of Primal Fear, Ralf Scheepers, in order to develop his vocal abilities. So, without a doubt he is a pretty metal guy and that dedication to the tradition of the genre is depicted clearly in his work.
Immortalizer, judging by the tracks presented, has established his sound around the rock ‘n’ roll and the heavy metal which is a very successful combination. The groove and movement of rock ‘n’ roll along with the sharpness and speed of heavy metal create a perfect mix for a vibrant album that wants you to move in its rhythm. Dave creates new and entertaining music with a vintage feel that offers a beautiful sense of familiarity.
The “Gone to Hell” and “I’m gone” tracks have a similar tone and follow the same musical patterns. Heavy metal inspired by the American sound with rock ‘n’ roll influences, a melodic lead that gives way to a shredding solo and sharp riffs compose these two songs.
The song “Lemmy” is a bit different from the other two, since being a tribute to the legend himself, Lemmy Kilmister, moves towards the sound of Motorhead. Simple, fast riffs of heavy metalized rock ‘n’ roll with a distinct bass line compose a song faithful to the legacy of one of the greatest bands of all time.
While there is no official date for the release of the album, the debut of Immortalizer will come soon enough and judging by the songs released, we are in for a treat. It wouldn’t be unfair to assume that like the songs the album will follow the same pattern of heavy metal and rock ‘n’ roll that force you to move in its rhythm. Dave has set the bar too high and I am expecting great things.
