Genre mashing alt-rock acrobats He Danced Ivy released their single, ‘Toothcutter‘ earlier this month – a blend of hybrid genres, maniacally driven infectious rhythm, a powerful vocal performance and bitingly relatable lyrics!
Today, they are dropping the video for said single, the latest in a string of quirky, weird and ultimately awesome videos they have made! Oh, and they are announcing the sweet bands they are supporting and who are supporting them on their short, sharp single launch tour in August that will take the band to Melbourne, Brisbane and Newcastle.
“Toothcutter” is a beast of a track that revolves around the theme of conformity-induced frustration and the desire to give in to addictive cycles that ultimately reject true connection.
The launch tour will begin on Friday August 2 at Whole Lotta Love in Melbourne for the Whole Lotta Birthday party event, featuring He Danced Ivy with Sleeping Giant, Eater of The Sky, Eat The Damn Orange and Shotgun Mistress among other festivities, before making its way to Brisbane on Friday August 9 for a hometown set at Black Bear Lodge with Meliorist, Dead Before Breakfast and Vesper Green in support and then finally to Newcastle on Sunday August 11 to round things out at The Cambridge for Sunday School with Royal Chant, Waster and Spoonhead!
The group’s willingness to experiment has attracted recognition from media worldwide and their theatrics has evoked comparisons to heavy weights acts such as At The Drive-In, Queens Of The Stone Age, Panic! At The Disco and Queen and seen them support a plethora of acts including Polyphia (USA), Intervals (USA), Circa Survive (USA), Protest The Hero (CAN), Twelve Foot Ninja, Dead Letter Circus, Stand Atlantic, Mammal, Caligula’s Horse and Columbus and grace Festival stages at Progfest, Halloween Hysteria and Banana Field Music Festival. They have been selected for RAGE’s ‘Wild Ones’, received triple j radio play and has been consistently added to triple j Unearthed radio rotation.
‘Toothcutter’ is out now on all digital stores and streaming platforms.Tickets to the Brisbane single launch show can be purchased at Eventbrite, the Melbourne show is Free Entry and details can be found at the Facebook event page, and Newcastle’s show details are also at the Facebook event page.
