Biography:
Formed in the winter of 2016, Haxon is a thrash metal band from Philadelphia, PA.
Influenced by the likes of Zakk Wylde, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen, Tyler Cantrell picked up the guitar when he was 10 and began taking lessons every week.
Michael Dodaro started playing the drums at the age of 15. He began to listen to heavy metal after he heard the song, “Disposable Heroes”, by Metallica. Dan Zahal started taking piano lessons at the age of 4. He was classically trained until the age of 9. Soon after, Dan received his first bass guitar and joined Haxon in October of 2018.
Corey Hornbaker learned guitar in his early teens but quickly moved on to singing. This lead him to become the lead singer of Haxon after meeting the other members at the School of Rock’s group sessions. Additionally, Corey is the lead singer of an AC/DC cover band called IC/DC in Philadelphia.
Having met at Fort Washington’s School of Rock, the band members were drawn to each other by similar musical influences. Such as thrash metal artists, Exodus, Death Angel, Havok, Death, as well as, progressive metal artists like Dream Theater and Tool.
The group began writing the songs which would later appear on their first album, “Besieged by Terror”, which was independently released in 2018 by the band themselves.
Now the group is primed to release their sophomore album, “Wrath of an Era”, with Machine Man Records. Expanding further on their progressive metal influences, while maintaining their thrash metal roots, this album exhibits the foursomes continued musical development. “Wrath of an Era”, showcases more diverse and complex song arrangements to their already intricate playing style.
