The World of Rock n Roll is a much better place when HANK VON HELL is in it, and after an 8 year absence, let the World know HANK IS BACK!!!! I personally REALLY missed this man in the rock n roll World and it is so awesome to not only have him back, but to have an album this good too!!! For those that don’t know, Hank Von Hell was the singer of the band TURBONEGRO for many years. Hank had originally left the band due to substance addiction, rejoined them for a few years, but left again due to family life. Well now he’s back with a brand new band, a brand new album, and he’s ready to rock the World with this new album EGOMANIA!!!

First off, special thanks to CENTURY MEDIA for getting the album to me in advance. As a reviewer and web site Master, but also as a HUGE fan of this man, it is greatly appreciated. But as I ALWAYS say here, no matter how much I love ya, you have to deliver, no softball reviews from me! LOL! It’s pretty obvious Hank put a lot of thought into this band and album. The band looks great, and play great. They sound really tight and the song writing is top-notch! There are a lot of nods to the “deathpunk” sound hank helped create with Turbonegro, but it also has its own identity. It’s a great mix of what Hank is known for with new ideas filtered in and it’s just fantastic!

Nobody was more excited than me when a video appeared on youtube a few months ago for the first single off the album for the song BUM TO BUM. The video has a funny intro that includes a cameo from the infamous STEVE O, from JACKASS fame. Jackass often used Turbonegro songs on their TV show & movies. But the song, oh the song! A perfect re-introduction for Hank!!! The song is one of the better catchy rock songs I’ve heard in a long time, and sticks like peanut butter to the roof of your mouth!!! Brash, sing a long-able, just full of so much good stuff!!!! There are quite a few great tunes on this album(check out the video for PRETTY DECENT EXPOSURE below)

I really can’t get enough of this album, and people longing for some of that old deathpunk magic will most likely agree, this album has it all!!! There are nods to Hank’s Turbonegro tunes – like DIRTY MONEY where he sings ” The money, the money, the dirty dirty money” and also the song BLOOD sounds very similar to CITY OF SATAN as it has a very anthemic sound and structure to it.  I also really enjoyed BOARDWALK CHIC, WILD BOY BLUES,  and TOO HIGH. From the opening track EGOMANIA to the epic last track ADIOS(WHERE’S MY SOMBRERO) you can’t stop being sucked right in by the catchy tunes, cool riffs and Hanks voice and his personality. I know Hank had ventured out and did some different projects like acting in Jesus Christ Superstar and being a DJ in Norway, but this album proves that Hank needs to be rocking, and we need Hank rocking!!!! I strongly suggest you follow Hank on Instagram because of the main draws to him is his unique and eclectic personality, which is funny as Hell!!! Find out about his obsession with Ricky Martin, his disdain for Neil Diamond and his ongoing battle with banana flies…….yeah, trust me, it’s some funny shit!!! I am ecstatic HANK VON HELL is back rocking and it stays that way for along long time……………
