We have an amazing band here today FROZEN WINDS coming from Cyprus
Let’s find out more about them
Welcome to Kick Ass Forever, first tell us who are FROZEN WINDS and where do you come from?
Thank you. We are Frozen Winds, a Black Metal band from Limassol, Cyprus.
How long you have been together as a Band?
We began in late 2007. So that sums up to almost 13 years of being active as a band
How did you come up with the Band’s name?
It was a name that one of our former members suggested when we were 17 years old. He didn’t necessarily have a certain meaning in mind, but once I thought about it a bit more carefully it grew on me as a name with a very deep personal concept. So we stuck with it. To some it might sound a bit basic and generic but trust me there is more to the name than what people might think.
A new album is out now “Necromantic Arts” tell us about the album? The philosophy of writing the songs etc
‘’Necromantic Arts’’ came out in mid 2018 under the label Deathhammer Records. It was in the making for 7 long years due to many obstacles and research as well. So we gave a lot of emphasis on the thematology. It is a concept album based on Ancient traditions of Sumerian Magick and Spirituality. It honors and conjures the Atavistic and Primordial Gods and Entities of chaos and creation. The philosophy is something based on our own subjective reality that we have been influenced by many Ancient Traditions and Arts.
How many songs are included in the new album?
There are 8 songs on this album. Each individual song possesses its own character, attitude and aesthetic. However we believe that there is an ideal blend of all the songs together.
Which song you feel is the most dynamic and why?
Although opinions and tastes vary, my personal favorite would be ‘Paternal Triumvirate’. There is a very distinctive dynamic to it which I can hardly explain with words. The songs we noticed that have the most influence in social media and from what people have told us are ‘Paternal Triumvirate’ and ‘Fire God’.
Do you believe your music is easy to travel worldwide and receive the feedback you need?
With the internet now and the social media networks artists can make their music easier to access, such as Facebook, Instagram and Youtube. Of course a band has to compose music that is quite appealing and attractive to a certain type of audience. I cannot say whether our music is easy to travel worldwide. If people find our music appealing and are able to feel the aesthetically dark and ritual ecstasy of the album that we ourselves have felt by creating it, then I don’t see a reason why it shouldn’t fall into the hands of an appropriate audience.
What about live shows ? how often you are Live on stage?
In the earlier days we weren’t really interested in doing live shows. However since we started incorporating a ritual aesthetic and performance, live shows became a necessity. We even had a mini 3 day tour in the Czech Republic in March 2018, which is quite decent band for an underground band such as ourselves. Furthermore we plan to perform live as often as possible in the future.
Are you planning to release a new album in 2020? Do you have material ready already or you are thinking to start preparing?
We are currently composing new material for our next album, but we have no idea of when it will be released. It will be very different than ‘Necromantic Arts’. We hope the new album is ready by 2021 but we are not rushing. We don’t want to force it so it can evolve naturally and as efficiently as possible
Closing please tell us about future plans
We plan to perform live as frequently as possible, especially in other countries and concentrate on new material as well.
Thank you for sharing this short interview, we wish you good luck and hope we meet again
