****Thanks to Angels PR Music Promotion for providing this review!!!****
Dark Sky return for a sixth time with their newest release, “Signs of Time”, presenting a work that we rarely have the pleasure to listen to lately. Against the currents and trends of the modern scene, Dark Sky deliver a sound that while it feels nostalgic and familiar, carries a fresh excitement and a contemporary signature.
Fittingly the album opens with a short orchestral intro, titled “Trail to Glory”. After the epic couple of minutes that is the intro, the Dark Sky rush in with their first song, “Heroes on Ice”, an excellent and exciting track built around the melodic lines of the keys and heavily inspired by the Europower sound, bringing to mind bands like the Beast in Black.
The “Signs of Time” is an album that wants and aims to deliver a fun musical experience, blending together the rock ‘n’ roll ideas and the vibrancy of hard rock with the heavy and power metal attitude and deliverance, creating compositions that span from epic power metal songs like the “Signs of Time” to party anthems like the “Zombies” or the more exotic and vibrant “St. Tropez”.
Every song is a burst of rock ‘n’ roll energy with memorable melodic lines and hooking choruses that command you to sing along. One of my favorites is the track “Forgiveness”, an 80’s influenced song that balances between hard rock and heavy metal, with an exciting and fast pace, and a simply catchy chorus that is tailored made for the band’s live performances.
Of course, the “Signs of Time” wouldn’t be able to support its 80s influenced profile and style without the essential ballad, which is none other than the great “It’s Not the End”. Detailed with a beautiful bluesy/rock guitar solo, the Dark Sky deliver a memorable, vivid, heartwarming song that cannot go unnoticed.
Before I sum up this review, there is a song that I would like to write about, and more particularly a cover. You see, Dark Sky have added in the album’s track list a great cover of Sandra’s “In The Heat of the Night”. The deliverance and the heavier twist in this classic ‘80s song adds a whole new level of power and energy that fits perfectly with the song’s core.
Concluding, there is not much more to say other than you must definitely check out the Dark Sky’s newest album, “Signs of Time”. It has everything that someone would expect from a ‘80s influenced record, with the band delivering an unmissable listening experience.
