I’ve been waving the Danko Jones flag for over a decade now, and this new album ELECTRIC SOUNDS is another installment in Danko’s Bon Scott-ish chest out, middle finger, shot to the chops, ROCK N ROLL!!!

The album opens with 2 typical Danko Jones rockers – “Guess Who’s back” & “Good Time”. “F” bombs included, these tunes are fun and catchy yet still kick yer ass!!!

 

Over his career Danko has the innate ability to write kick ass tunes that stick to the roof of your mouth like peanut butter. This album offers plenty of that – the title track “Electric Sounds”, “Get High”, “I Like It”, “Good Time” are prime examples.

Even though the band is known for the Hard Rock anthemic type of tunes, there is still a punk rock attitude and vibrato to some songs – “She’s My Baby”, “What Goes Around”. Danko will always involve some “Crotch Rock’ with songs like “Stiff Competition” and “Let’s Make Out”. This album hits all the rock n roll marks – the band sounds great and tight!

Over the years Danko’s lineup has been himself and his bass player JC (John Calabrese) but has failed to secure a drummer until current drummer Rich Knox came into the fold. Knox has been a solid member for many years now, solidifying the Danko Jones backbeat. This album also features few guest stars – Tyler Stewart (Barenaked Ladies), Damian Abraham (Fucked Up) and guitarist Daniel Dekay (from Canadian thrash legends Exciter and and ex member of the band Diemonds).

Stadium rock with a punk rock attitude and rock n roll conviction makes it hard NOT to be into this band. If you never heard of them before, this would be a great starting point. Get yourself into ELECTRIC SOUNDS…….NOW!!!
