Finland’s DAMAGE S.F.P. have unleashed their single “Ruthless Fate” off their upcoming self-titled debut album due out on June 14th via Rockshots Records. During the band’s existence, they released three demos in the ’90s: 1992, 1993 and 1996 along with a promo tape in 1994 and continued performing until 1996 before disbanding. Moshing in 2018, DAMAGE S.F.P. was reformed by guitarist Nikkilä and drummer Lipsonen with bassist Remes hearing the call to arms to rejoin his schoolyard headbangers. Solidifying the original line-up, the trio returns 30 years after first picking up their instruments to destroy audiences and are now ready to unleash what has been a long time coming in their debut self-titled album, which features eleven of their best whip lashing tracks. The band adds: “This album is our debut, but at the same time collection of our best songs. It is diverse, bringing in influences from both thrash and death metal, but not forgetting the beautiful melodies of heavy metal. At the far end of the album you can find a short track called ‘Grain Brain’, which is almost grindcore, then on the other end is ‘In Termination’, an epic song with Amorphis and Iron Maiden vibes.”

BIOGRAPHY

Damage S.F.P. was formed back at 1989 in Northern Finland, in a small village called Liminka. Three school kids, Jarkko Nikkilä (vocals & guitar), Antti Remes (bass) and Tero Lipsonen (drums) shared the same desire: to play loud and fast thrash metal. And just like their idols (Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera) cause some jaw dropping while doing it. And so they did. Now these kids are grown up men, and the same desire to kick ass has waken again.

Damage S.F.P. released three demos at 90’s: 1992, 1993 and 1996. In addition, they made a promotape in 1994 in order to seal a deal with German Noise Records. Noise Records had shown interest in signing the band after 1993 demo. There were some musical changes between 1993 demo and 1994 promo tape, as 1994 songs had more influence from death metal and ¾ rhythms. That did not quite satisfy Noise Records needs, so the promising  co-operation faded. After that Damage played ‘till 1996, but was put to long sleep as the players moved on with their studies and other band projects.

As the year 2018 started, the band was awoken from its long sleep by Nikkilä and Lipsonen. Remes joined the team gladly, meaning that Damage S.F.P. started operating with its original line-up. Players decided that it’s about time to put all the best tracks to one full length album.

First single from the self-titled album was released in February 2019. The album was released 14th of June through ROCKSHOTS RECORDS, 30 years after the story of this band started. Nikkilä, Lipsonen and Remes are back, so keep your heads up, you smelly motherfuckers!
