BRUCE DICKINSON IGNITES BROOKLYN!
The iconic voice of metal made a triumphant return as Bruce Dickinson brought The Mandrake Project tour to a roaring, excited crowd in Brooklyn, New York. One of the most commanding frontmen in the history of heavy metal — and rock music as a whole — Dickinson delivered an unforgettable night of raw energy, power, and musical mastery. Displaying so much passion and so expressive on the stage. The Mandrake Project, Dickinson’s seventh solo album, marks his first extensive North American solo tour in nearly 30 years. For this highly anticipated run, he reunited his powerhouse 2024 touring lineup.
The Brooklyn crowd was treated to an explosive opening with “Accident of Birth,” setting the tone for an electrifying night that delved deep into Dickinson’s solo catalog. Stripped of Iron Maiden’s massive arena spectacle — no pyrotechnics, no elaborate sets, no Eddie — this performance was raw and intimate, placing the spotlight squarely on the music and Bruce’s legendary voice. The energy was palpable, there wasn’t a second in the set where there wasn’t fast paced movement. All members connected tightly and never skipped a beat.
The setlist leaned heavily on The Mandrake Project and the fan-favorite The Chemical Wedding, but also featured a rare gem: “Flash of the Blade,” from Iron Maiden’s Powerslave, a song never performed live until this tour. The Brooklyn faithful erupted in response. From the moment he hit the stage, Dickinson was a force of nature — darting across the stage, adding percussion during a fiery cover of Johnny Winter’s “Frankenstein,”. Highlights included “Shadow of the Gods,” “Rain on the Graves,” “The Alchemist,” and the dramatic closer and another crowd favorite “Road to Hell.”
But the night didn’t end there. Brooklyn demanded more — and got it — with a three-song encore that brought the house down: the soaring “Tears of the Dragon,” the crushing “Gods of War,” and the anthemic “The Tower.” As the show was coming to a close, Bruce tossed his sweat-soaked beanie into the crowd, a special souvenir from a night that fans won’t soon forget.
In Brooklyn, Bruce Dickinson didn’t just return — he conquered.
