BLUE HOUR GHOSTS – to release the album “Due” via Rockshots Records on February 12, 2021 #bluehourghosts
Rockshots Records is proud to announce their latest signing of BLUE HOUR GHOSTS one of the most promising newcomer bands from Italy. New Album “Due” Coming Out February 12,2021
Hailing from the foggy plains of Modena, Italy, Blue Hour Ghosts were formed in 2013 with the aim of giving birth to a personal and recognizable style of metal, drawing its influences from progressive music, classic metal, gothic and alternative rock. Their 2016 self-titled debut album, produced by the talented Giuseppe “Dualized” Bassi (Fear Factory), received unanimous acclaim from rock/metal magazines all over Europe as “one of the best debut albums since a while in the melodic metal world” (LordsOfMetal, 2016)
Together with the new band members, Blue Hour Ghosts started writing their second album, joining forces again with producer Giuseppe Bassi. The writing process went through all along 2019, and in summer 2020, after a forced hiatus induced by the Covid-19 lockdown, the band completed the recordings of their new album.
With their sophomore effort “Due”, Blue Hour Ghosts are ready to unleash another fresh, powerful and intense melodic assault, set to take any listener by the storm and to conquer an even larger share of music lovers.
The album depicts a wide range of soundscapes ranging from full metal aggression to soft, acoustic atmospheres, passing through infectious and catchy hooks and refrains that will enthrall any music addict, and sophisticated layered arrangements to satisfy the most demanding palates. Throughout the 9 songs, all the ghosts hiding in the blue hour are made alive in the deep and heartfelt narration provided by both music and lyrics, offering a unique and compelling listening experience.
Singer Ricky DC comments about the new album
“Those who already knew Blue Hour Ghosts from their debut will notice a different approach, resumed in a much more album-oriented songwriting, a stronger identity as an outcome of the most recent line up changes (vocals+drums) and will experience an extremely catchy full length, revealing new nuances of the Blue Hour sound”.
Keyborder adds Simome Pedrazzi
As far as the singles are concerned, with the first single (“Walking Backwards”) we are going to provide the fans with a rather paradigmatic BHG song, which encompasses all the peculiarities of our sound, and constitutes its perfect synthesis; it will be the right way to introduce new fans to the BHG world, while established fans will instantly recognize our trademark sound. With the second single (“On Black Clouds”) the fans will be served an extremely catchy, fast-paced yet brooding song, exhibiting our most easy-listening side but at the same time being compelling and emotional. Finally, the third single (“Shine”) will let the fans appreciate our most emotional side. The tune exudes drama all along, with its powerful melancholy enriched by heartfelt vocals and relentless guitars until the final climax.
singer Ricky DC comments about the new single:
“‘Walking Backwards’ is an intense anthem scratching the itch of the spots where we feel guilty and imperfect, as it talks about walking in circles and find ourselves with our feet where we already failed and made mistakes, but it’s a necessary condition to do it over again to feel human, to know we can fail and fall, and doing it in good (or bad) company validates the process”.
guitarist Diego Angeli adds:
“Musically-wise it presents all the facets of the BHG sound: powerful and proggy riffs, haunting vocals, pounding drums and bass, acoustic guitars, hypnotic and dreamy layers of keyboards and synths. It really represents the perfect synthesis of our sound and for this reason we felt it was the ideal opening song for the album and first single, the right way to introduce new listeners to our world, and to let established fans feel immediately at home”

FULL BAND BIO
blue hour ghosts [/’blu:/ /’aʊə/ /’gəʊsts/] (abbr. bhg), collective noun (m.): the thoughts, the rage, the doubts and regrets invading the time of the day of utmost intimacy; synonyms (6-fold) handful of unquiet souls, waking up at twilight to craft sounds of smooth, lingering melancholy and elegant aggression.
The self-definition that this six-piece, hailing from the foggy plains of Modena, Italy, gave itself, back in the very first days of its existence, clearly reflects the objectives of founding members and guitarists Diego Angeli and Francesco Poggi when, in early 2013, after their decade-long experience in the melodic death metal band Oblivion999, they set out to start a new musical project. This time, though, after more than 10 years spent in the death metal underground, the guys wanted to step up their game a notch. Their aim was to create a personal and recognizable style of metal, drawing its influences from progressive music, classic metal, gothic and alternative rock, to find an appropriate musical harbor for the ever-present melancholy that characterized their previous musical effort, and let them shine through in a kaleidoscope of musical colours. The ghosts continuously haunting their restless souls were ready to explode like the colours in the sky in the blue hour.
The first line-up of BHG was completed later the same year, with singer Alessandro Guidi, Simone Pedrazzi on keyboards, drummer Claudio Mulas and Andrea Bartolacelli on bass guitar. The six-piece spent their first full year together writing the songs for their debut album, which was finally recorded in autumn 2015. The self-titled album was produced by Giuseppe “Dualized” Bassi (notable collaborations: Fear Factory, Logan Mader, Mnemic, Alteria) of dysFUNCTION productions. The album contained 9 tracks whose soundscapes range from up-tempo metal riffs to more reflective and melancholic atmospheres, all spiced up with tons of great melodies, delivering a highly enjoyable, yet sophisticated musical experience. “Blue Hour Ghosts” was finally released in November 2016 via Buil2Kill Records / Nadir Promotion. The album received unanimous acclaim from the specialized press all over Europe. One of the most flattering comments came from the renowned Dutch webzine Lords of Metal, which addressed BHG as “One of the best debut albums since a while in the melodic metal world”.
After the release, and with bass player Matteo Malmusi and drummer Sergio Perna joining the band, taking the place of Andrea and Claudio, the band undertook a series of live shows in their homeland to promote the record. Notable venues included Dagda Live Club (Pavia) and La Tenda (Modena). In late 2017, Blue Hour Ghosts also completed a short tour in France, Switzerland and Belgium. Their energetic and overwhelming shows delivered throughout this fruitful live season were captured in an EP, titled “Do You Believe in Ghosts?”, released in late 2018. The release symbolically marked the end of the cycle of BHG’s first album, portraying the band in one of their finest performances, and marking also the latest line-up change for the band. This time the shake-up was major, as singer Alessandro and drummer Sergio left the band, and were replaced by Ricky DC (Old Man’s Cellar) and Andrew Gunner (Rain), respectively.
Together with the new band members, Blue Hour Ghosts started writing their second album, joining forces again with producer Giuseppe Bassi. The writing process went through all along 2019, and in summer 2020, after a forced hiatus induced by the Covid-19 lockdown, the band completed the recordings of their new album “Due”. The album is set to be released in early 2021 by the rising Italian rock/metal label Rockshots Records. With “Due”, BHG deliver an even fresher, more powerful and intense melodic assault, set to take any listener by the storm. Once again, the 9 tracks of the album depict a wide range of soundscapes ranging from full metal aggression to soft, acoustic atmospheres, passing through infectious and catchy hooks and refrains that will enthrall any rocker, and sophisticated layered arrangements to satisfy the most demanding palates.
