Aspherium is a progressive death metal band from Norway. Blending death and thrash metal with
modern elements, black metal riffs and melodic and mellow passages. The debut album “The Veil of
Serenity” was released in 2011. The album got great reviews and g
ot the band a bit of attention in
the underground scene. The band did more live shows, including festivals and playing with bands
like Susperia, Ihsahn and Satyricon and a tour in Europe with Blood Red Throne. On the second
album “The Fall of Therenia” the
band worked with renowned producer and mixer Jens Bogren at
Fascination Street Studios (Opeth, Amon Amarth, Soilwork, Devin Townsend), and the album
launched in 2014 to glowing reviews. This got the band on two tours with the legendary band
Decapitated an
d got them slots at big festivals in Norway.
The third Aspherium album “The Embers of Eternity” moves away from the sci fi themes of the last
album, and dives deeper into our real world. Taking place in a future where humanity has ultimately
destroyed the
planet, this concept album deals with the struggles that we face as a species. There’s
a lot wrong with the world, but are we really doing anything about it?
Racism, hatred, school shootings, fear, war, hunger, disease, greed, global warming, pollution,
natural disasters and overpopulation are just some of the things that we need to humanity needs to
deal with.
Musically, the album is as usual a varied journey across different metal genres. There is a base of
death and thrash metal, with modern metal, pro
gressive elements, black metal sections as well as
melodic and mellow passages.
The album was mixed by Linus Corneliusson at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden.
And
mastered by Tony Lindgren at the same studio
