Holy fuck yeah! I have been doing all I can to expose people to the Japanese Metal locomotive known as ANTHEM for years! I have been a fan since day one which was way back in 1985 when their debut album came out. There was a short period where the band went on hiatus and band leader Naoto Shibata and at-the-time drummer Hiro Homma – drums, joined Akira Takasaki in Loudness(Loudness was fronted by ex EZO vocalist Masaki Yammada then). But not too long after that, Anthem was put back together and throughout their long career have churned out tons of amazing, quality metal. Line up changes haven’t effected the band at all, as Shibata being the main song writer has kept Anthem on the metal path for over 30 years!
So you can only imagine how happy and excited I was to learn that not only was Anthem re-recording some of their classics with all English lyrics, but it was going to see a WORLD WIDE release, which for a band from japan, is a huge deal!!!! Most of the World shuns away from Japanese bands because they can’t sing along, or understand the lyrics. Most Japanese bands do have their names, song titles, and song choruses in English. I listen to a ton of Japanese metal, it doesn’t bother me at all because I am all about melody and execution. That being said, if Anthem sang in 100% English since 1985, they would’ve made a huge mark in the USA and European market. NUCLEUS is their chance to reach a hole new audience.
In 2006 Anthem released what I still feel is THE metal album of the 21st Century, titled IMMORTAL. OMFG people google this album look it up on youtube. Start to finish just amazing songs and playing, vocals, chops, guitar solos, it has it ALL!!! The first song on NUCLEUS is from that album, title “IMMORTAL BIND” (see the video above this) – I mean, holy shit this song still kills! Song after song ANTHEM just impresses and slays. Their playing and execution is second to none and any fan of contemporary metal will indeed be automatically hooked.

There’s not a weak song, or any filler here. Not only that, there’s a bonus cd of live material! Now that has songs that weren’t re-recorded, so you get more exposure to the deep catalog. The live tunes are sung in Japanese, but I am hoping at that point you all will at least give them a chance!!!
Am I right or what? Holy metal fuck people, you all need to give these guys serious consideration, this is some quality kick ass METAL!!! Do what every you have to do to get ANTHEM’s new album NUCLEUS, it has a KICK ASS FOREVER guaranteed approval!! LOL! I am biased, I have loved this band for 34 years so yeah, I am hyping it up BUT, if you go and listen you will see I am not blowing smoke, or anything else(LOL!)up your ass – I am just showing you that ANTHEM will be kicking your ass! Turn it up, ANTHEM has invaded the WORLD!!!!
