- • Welcome Andy! How things are going about Andy Rocks?
Hi, thank you for having us! Yes, things are going great so far. We have a new Single out and new things are already in progress.
- Are you satisfied about the feedback for your new single “Digital Detox”?
Yes, I am very happy about it. As the corona crisis hit us we wanted to release a positive sounding song to lighten up the dark a little, so this song was chosen. We got lots of positive reactions about it and up to now it is our most successful release.
- After releasing your first EP “Porcelain Heart” you decided to release another single. Are there any plans for a full album in the near future or you find this not essential?
Well yes, I think we will make a full length album. The work on it is already in progress. But I did not want to start with this for it takes more time to finish a whole record than an EP or single and I did not want to wait to long to release something. I also do not think that it is so essential today because times are really fast and music is mostly streamed.
- How can you describe your sound?
We are a rockband with catchy melody lines and straight forward songs. We combine a classic rock sound, also sounding a little American, with modern elements. Tight drum and bass grooves drive the music forward. Our song themes are diverse – from fun to critical – presented by a charismatic female voice.
- What are your musical idols?
For me first it is Jon Bon Jovi. His songs accompany me since a long time. When I was a teenager I mostly listened to hard rock bands like Guns ‘n’ Roses, Aerosmith and stuff like that. The list of music that inspires us is long.
- The video clip for your song “Digital Detox” shows a very entertaining and funny side of the band. Tell us a few words and special moments about the shots.
Well as I said before this was done as the lockdown happened and we did not have another opportunity than to shoot at our homes. So everybody had to film at home and then it was all cut together. Simona Parisi, who made a guest appearance as guitar player on this track, also lives in Italy and send her video online.
- What is your opinion about the use of internet? Is this helpful about the bands or they are just being lost into a sea of information?
I think both is right. On the one hand you connect easily with fans and other musicians around the world and promote your music.
- Any live plans for the band?
Of course we want to play live again as soon as possible. But to be honest at the moment it is difficult to find possibilities to play cuz there are almost no live shows at the moment. But we will see what the future brings and in the meantime we will work on our record and write some cool new tunes.
9) What is your biggest dream about Andy Rocks?
Of course to open for Bon Jovi someday or to sing a song with Jon.
10) How did you get started with music? Any special musical studies?
I always liked singing and I always used to sing along with my favorite songs. Around 15 I started writing own songs. First I only did it for myself and later I joined Black Daffodils as singer. I am not an educated musician but I use to sing a lot and to practice a lot myself.
11) What do you think about the German rock and metal scene? Are there any new bands that you love?
There are a lot of good “underground bands” in Germany. But it seems to get harder to be heard because there are not so many possibilities to play live. When you look at the big festivals it is very unlikely you will get a slot as a small act. From that side I would wish for more support for new acts to show their music. And now that we have the corona crisis we all know it is even harder. To name a new band that I like is for example Pantsdown from Coburg.
12) Congrats and good luck about your work, Andy! The last words are yours.
Thank you so much for the interview. It was a pleasure to answer your questions.
