“Red Divine” marks the first official single from AMONGRUINS’ new album “Advent of Chaos”, showcasing the band’s expanded melodic death metal sound… darker, heavier, and more emotionally charged than ever.
Blending searing riffs, punishing rhythms, and immersive atmospheres, “Red Divine” sets the tone for the chaos to come. This lyric video invites you deeper into the album’s apocalyptic vision and its themes of destruction, rebirth, and inner turmoil.

“Advent of Chaos” is described as your darkest and most emotionally charged album to date. What pushed AMONGRUINS toward this direction?
–Hello, I’m Thanos, from the band AMONGRUINS. Thank you for having me. As things are going around the world, wars, famine, racism, and death are clear that any type of inspiration will be charged from those factors. We always write songs from our heart and with the emotions that we have at the moment. So, the Advent of Chaos describes whatever happens around us and inside us very, very precisely.

The album deals heavily with themes of destruction, chaos, and rebirth. Are these concepts personal, symbolic, or purely artistic for the band?
–We always write music from our hearts, as we mentioned. So the ideas come to us from our life experience and the influence of words and actions we see in people around us, and all around the world.
How did the songwriting process for “Advent of Chaos” differ from “Land of the Black Sun”?
–Sverd and I usually write most of the songs, and the thing with the album “Land of the Black Sun” was that between our second and third album, it was a 7-year gap. In those 7 years, we had so many experiences, heartbreaks, disappointments, new people and events all around us, so we found some inspiration in the time of not writing music for so long. But the thing with “Advent of Chaos” basically says it in the name. The time between our third and newest albums was so little, with so many things happening all around the world, that you could really call it chaos. We had so many things to say about the events, so it was time to express our opinion through music.
Melodic death metal often walks a fine line between aggression and atmosphere. How did you approach that balance on this record?
–Since this is our fourth album, we have grown with our songwriting level and experience since the start of the band. With time, we learned that aggression and loud noise are not the key to enjoyable and good metal. Through time and all those years spent practicing and recording have taught us how to balance. It’s not something you figure out in a day or a week or in a month. It’s also not something you can just explain and show how to do. You have to reach a flow state yourself to achieve the balance between the aggression and atmosphere.
The title track “Advent of Chaos” feels like the core statement of the album. What does this song represent for you?
— “Advent of Chaos” is an explanation of the events in the last 2 years we have seen all around the world. Everything seemed so rushed and messy that you can name the last 2 years pure chaos. It was a chaos politicly, globally and also a chaos in our minds. I’d explain our song “Advent of Chaos” as the countdown to destruction. Possibly with the global warming or the political restlessness, it’s like an end coming to us.
Tracks like “A Symphony of Loss” and “Night Mother” explore deep emotional territory. How important is emotional honesty in your music?
— I’d say our music represents the emotions in a raw, passionate, and real way. Emotion can be ugly, weird, or beautiful and sweet. And something that draws people to art mostly is the concept of their feelings being related to music. As an example, could be somebody listening to music that perfectly resonates their messy, sad, or big emotions into words that feel real, even if it’s not something that’s socially appropriate to say. Whatever you feel being explained and shown in a way that you know you are not the only one who feels this way is the main thing that makes your music real. So I’d say that we really do make our music relatable and emotionally honest.
The album includes strong guest performances. How did the collaborations with Christianna and George Prokopiou come about?
— Christianna and George are really good friends of ours. We collaborated with George on the song “Open Wounds”. He is a good vocalist and just a wonderful person, so we have grown a great relationship with him. And Christianna collaborated on the song “Into the Flame”. Sverd and I have known her since “Bare Infinity” where I’ve met most of the band members. So, I’d say she is more like a sister to us. Our friendship is so strong that it’s connecting us like siblings, it’s basically in our DNA. So when writing “Advent of Chaos” we felt obligated to collaborate with Christianna in this album.
What did these guest vocalists add to the songs that you feel could not have been achieved otherwise?
— Christianna and George are like spices added to our aggressive and harsh nature. They both gave us the taste of light, flowing melody in our songs. They are wonderful artists who helped us put the cherry on top. In the song “Land of Black Sun” George had done some vocals for us, and we were so satisfied with his work that we just had to collaborate with him on the newest album. At some point, we realised that without George, there was something missing that he achieved with his vocal and musical touch. And Christianna really knew how to mix her melodic voice into our harsh music.
This is once again a collaboration with Saku Moilanen for mixing and mastering. How has he helped shape the AMONGRUINS sound?
–Saku was proposed to us by our dear and beloved brother Tuomas Saukonenn (Wolfheart, Before the Dawn). From the No light era it was clear for us that he knows what we want and he surely know what he does…year by year, album by album he gets better and we grow better with him..as a band we discuss any plan and any step that we have to take to any direction, but never about to whom we will mix and master our music…he is the fifth member, the guy that understands, even though distance how Among Ruins should and have to sound. We couldn’t be happier with our collaboration and with the final results
The production is both heavy and cinematic. How involved was the band in the final production decisions?
–The production, writing, composing, everything happened by AMONGRUINS, and it’s fully from the band’s perspective of things. We put our ideas and minds into one work and fully completed the production together.
With “Advent of Chaos”, what do you want listeners to feel or take away after hearing the album from start to finish?
— We really want our listeners to listen and take away whatever they feel like they should keep in mind. Everyone understands the world, music, people, and things in their own way, and everyone has their own way of coping with things, so we would say that you have to take with you whatever feels right. Listen to the songs, feel whatever you want to feel, and turn it as your look at the things and events.
